Fixin’ the Felines Low-Cost Spay

New Fixin’ the Felines Spay Clinic

Owners will  pre-register, and pre-pay for their space through Forgotten Felines.

However, instead of having one day every few months that we will do multiple surgeries we will schedule registrants through the week at the Corbin Animal Clinic.

After purchasing your registration, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to schedule a day that works best for you.  We will only be scheduling 1 procedure a day, so if you have multiple felines you will have to schedule multiple days for surgery.

At this time any missed appointments will not be rescheduled, or refunded.  Registrations are final.

Fixin’ the Felines is a low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic for CATS ONLY.   Each cat will receive a 1 year rabies vaccine as well as a FVRCP vaccine, and pain/antibiotic shot while undergoing surgery.  This particular Fixin’ the Felines registration is for FEMALES ONLY

Is there an age limit or weight limit?

Yes, cats must weigh at least 2lbs and be at least 3 months old. Anesthesia is very risky for anything younger or smaller than this.  Cats that are over 7 years of age are recommended to have a blood panel done prior to anesthesia, however you are not required to do so, the additional bloodwork is $88.00.

What if my cat is in heat or pregnant?

Your cat can still be spayed regardless if they are in heat or pregnant, and we encourage you to do so.  If your cat is currently nursing, the kittens will need to be weaned before we spay the mother.  If your cat is found to be pregnant during her spay the surgery will be completed without consulting the owner.

Unless otherwise required by the Corbin Animal Clinic, cats will be picked up at 4:30pm same day of surgery. Cats left overnight per owner request will be subject to overnight boarding, that will be charged by the veterinary clinic.

Yes, all cats are required to be confined in a carrier, with a blanket/towel or some sort of padding.  Cats that do not come in a carrier will be turned away without refund.

At this time the only additional service will be pre-surgical bloodwork.

Will my cat have stitches that need to be removed?

No, there will not be any sutures that need to be removed. You will need to check your cats incision daily for at least 10 days for properly healing, if any redness or swelling is observed please contact your veterinarian.

What are the after-care instructions for my cat?

Each cat will be discharged with a sheet describing after care instructions.  Cats need to be kept confined for the night in a warm area.  Some cats, especially female may leave slightly sedated, those cats should be fully recovered by the next morning if they are not you will need to seek medical attention. There is always a risk to anesthesia/surgery, if you feel your cat isn’t recovering properly it is your responsibility to seek out medical attention.

Keeping Costs Low, Keeping Your Cat Safe

We understand you want the best care for your feline friend, and spaying is a crucial part of responsible pet ownership. Our low-cost spay clinic makes this vital surgery accessible by streamlining the process. Here’s what sets the low cost option apart from a full price surgery at the vet:

  • Streamlined Pre-Surgery: To keep costs low, we don’t perform individual exams or weigh each cat before surgery. However, we use a safe, established dosage protocol based on Alley Cat Allies’ large-scale trap-neuter-return program, with adjustments made for very small cats.

  • Safe Anesthesia: Your cat will receive a deep sleep using a carefully chosen sedation protocol. While inhaled anesthesia is not used to further reduce costs, this method is still safe and effective for this type of surgery.

  • Post-Surgical Care: We prioritize your cat’s comfort! Each kitty receives a pain injection lasting 24 hours, an antibiotic injection to prevent infection, and essential vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP). If your cat is pregnant or in heat at the time of surgery, the spay will be completed. We will not contact you beforehand to confirm this decision.

  • Monitoring and Emergencies: While we don’t use continuous monitoring equipment, our experienced staff closely observes your cat throughout the procedure. In the unlikely event of an anesthetic issue, CPR will be administered for 10 minutes while contacting you.

By focusing on efficiency and established protocols, we can offer this vital service at a significantly lower cost. This allows more cats to be spayed, reducing the number of unwanted litters and contributing to a healthier feline population.

Rest assured, your cat’s well-being is our top priority. We offer a safe and effective solution for spaying your feline friend at a price that fits your budget.

For any further questions or concerns that we don’t have listed, please don’t hesitate to ask!
